And the results are so bright.
By now, there's no doubt that you've been bombarded with all sorts of matchy-matchy makeup looks on social media this season. First, a makeup artist sparked the trend when she went viral on Twitter for matching her false eyelashes to her brightly colored lipsticks. Not long after that, Jennifer Lopez took that idea a step further with matching purple eyes makeup and nail polish. Now, just as we predicted, eyebrows are rapidly becoming a part of the matching makeup game. Instagram users have decided that lashes and nails simply aren't enough and have begun matching their brows to their brightly colored makeup in just about every way possible.
Of course, colorful eyebrows and monochromatic makeup aren't at all new concepts, but we're still getting an intense joy from seeing all the inventive ways people can incorporate bright shades into their brows. Below, see some of our favorite takes on the trend — both subtle and bold — just in case you're looking for something fun and new to try while you're social distancing at home.
Makeup artist @calebdoesmakeup pairs a hint of lavender eyeliner at the waterline with purple eyebrows that are impossible to miss. If you have darker brows and are attempting a lighter brow color, you can comb through them first with a white- or cream-colored eyelash primer before coating them with eye shadow or a brightly colored brow pomade.
Fellow makeup artist @imcybro takes a fluffier, more disheveled approach to matchy-matchy eyebrows with a slime green color. It didn't escape us that she busted out a matching pair of colorful lashes, too. Her brows are bleached, making them the perfect base for high-impact colors like this one.
This makeup artist, @lilcarrairo, puts a gothic twist on the trend with bright blue tears and matching eyebrows that fade from black to turquoise. Those with naturally thin or sparse eyebrows, by the way, will find this trend incredibly easy because they'll be able to create any brow shape they please.
The U.K.-based @visualvenomartistry has shaved brow hair and doesn't always incorporate eyebrows into their makeup looks. But when they do, you can bet it'll be a brightly colored creation that matches the accompanying eye look. For the look above, they matched fuschia and deep purple brows with equally bright eyeliner and lower lashes.
Instagram user @destinyshae.mua offers up a more subtle way to wear colorful brows for people who are new to the trend. Her fiery, orange look is all tied together with a hint of orange in the center of her eyebrows. You can achieve a similar effect by crushing up some eye shadow into dust, combining with a mixing medium, and using a spooley to gently brush it through hair near the center.
If you're ready to go all-out with matchy-matchy eyebrows and eye makeup, turn your attention to @alice.elizabeth, who has this kind of look down to an exact science. Her brows blend from yellow to orange to pink to purple, and it's likely this kind of technique requires some practice to master — and, probably, some concealer for cleanup.
